Minimal rooms fail when they are merely empty. With almost no colour and very little pattern to hide behind, every proportion, shadow gap and junction is on show.
The discipline moved into the detail: a restricted palette of three tones, one timber, and one stone, with texture doing the work colour usually does — ribbed wool, brushed oak, matte plaster. Lighting is warm and low so the neutrals never go grey after dark.
A room that feels calm rather than bare, and stays that way for a decade.
A single sculptural ring fitting sets the centre; everything else is concealed or table-height, keeping the ceiling plane quiet.
